Tierravision was formed in January 2000 by two UCSD alumni, Alfred Wallner and Will Cooper. The company is located in San Diego, CA. The founders bring almost 30 years of combined experience in software and wireless systems development.

In 2004, Tierravision was awarded a patent by the USPTO for its inventions in the area of mobile map data formatting, wireless downloading and intelligent data caching technology. Since then the original patent has been broadened and an additional 5 patents are now pending.

In 2006, Tierravision won the Grand Prize at the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge for its enterprise wireless mobile mapping product, 'Locator for Salesforce AppExchangeMobile'.
